Satyagrah Ashram, an unique foundation of new Bihar

Patna: The News. Despite numerous challenges and repression, the architect of Jan Suraaj, Prashant Kishor, is once again ready to take on all opposing factions for the overall development of Bihar. Not just for Bihar, but for the entire country, the Satyagraha Ashram of Jan Suraaj has become a new learning center for politics. It is worth mentioning that Prashant Kishor had gone on an indefinite hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan in support of BPSC candidates’ demands. The movement gained momentum, forcing the government to take notice. Cases were filed against PK to suppress the agitation, but he did not abandon the students. Eventually, the government provided Jan Suraaj with a designated space near LCT Ghat to voice their concerns. Spanning several acres, this place was named Satyagraha Ashram by PK, and it has since become a gathering hub for the people of Bihar. At the ashram, students receive skill training for employment. Proper accommodation has been arranged for them, with around 2,000 beds available. Free meals are provided. The entire ashram remains lively day and night. It feels as if the youth, standing in front of Gandhi’s statue, are waging a do or die battle. There is an incredible enthusiasm at Satyagraha Ashram. In a unique initiative, Prashant Kishor, the driving force behind Jan Suraaj, has made a major announcement regarding the upcoming assembly elections. He made it clear that candidates for his party will be selected based on evaluations by Jan Suraaj workers and a three-tiered committee, rather than by any single leader or group within the party. This will be a truly unique initiative, as, for the first time in India, a political party’s candidates will be chosen entirely based on public opinion.

PK stated that in the BJP, ticket distribution is decided by leaders sitting in Delhi. In all political parties, leaders themselves select candidates. This is what makes Jan Suraaj different from other parties. In other parties, the top leadership decides the ticket allocation, while the common party workers and youth are only left to carry the party flag. However, in Jan Suraaj, party workers and officials will have the right to determine who will be the candidate, and they will also have the opportunity to evaluate them.
